The Florida State Soccer Association is one of the largest of the 52 state associations comprising the Amateur Division of the United States Amateur Soccer Association. The FSSA’s purpose is to promote and administer the game of soccer in all its United States Soccer Federation approved forms – be it outdoor or indoor, among men and women eighteen (18) years of age and over within the State of Florida and to manage all intra-state games leading to National Cups.

There are currently over 22 affiliated leagues throughout the state that represent over 550 teams and 12,000 players. The various leagues have divisions of competition which include: men’s open, women’s open, men’s over 30, women’s over 30, men’s over 40, coed, 7 v 7 and others.

Advantages of membership in FSSA include:

  • Player and team insurance
  • Network of leagues and teams throughout the state
  • Regular communication about programs and opportunities within the state and around the nation
  • Opportunity to participate in state and national cup competitions
  • Access to certified referee assignors and certified referees
  • Assistance from FSSA board of directors and member leagues in reaching your league’s goals

The FSSA meets twice a year. The Annual General Meeting is held in August or September and the mid-year meeting is held in January. League representatives and board members attend these meetings to discuss activities taking place within the organization and to plan future activities.

New leagues have the opportunity to attend one of the two annual meetings listed above to present their league for affiliation.

New league responsibilities include ensuring they have a state certified referee assignor. For a list of currently certified assignors go to www.fsr-inc.com.

New leagues must host a referee clinic within the first few months of provisional membership to help grow the referee base in their area. The clinic must have a minimum of 15 participants ages 18 or older. For more information: referee clinic details.

Applications must be accompanied by the league’s constitution and bylaws. For help creating these documents: FSSA Constitution and Bylaw Guidelines
